Recently, the inaugural meeting of the First Health Communication Professional Committee of the Hainan Preventive Medicine Association, along with Hainan’s first Health Communication Academic Conference, was held in Haikou, south China’s Hainan Province.

Against the backdrop of the Hainan Free Trade Port's special customs operations, the establishment of the committee aims to bring together cross-disciplinary expertise and build a new health communication framework tailored to the needs of the Free Trade Port. A total of 110 committee members were elected. Zhao Miao, Director of the Operations Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University, was elected as Chair of the Committee, while Jiao Jiege, former President of Hainan Medical College, was appointed Honorary Chair.

Held concurrently, Hainan's first Health Communication Academic Conference invited well-known domestic experts to share insights on cutting-edge topics such as health science communication practices, integrated media strategies for medical brand building, and professional title evaluation in science popularization. The discussions provided both theoretical guidance and practical experience for advancing health communication efforts in Hainan.

Looking ahead, the Committee will leverage its platform role to integrate resources, strengthen professional empowerment, and innovate health communication models. By fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration, it aims to enhance public health literacy and inject new momentum into the “Healthy Hainan” initiative, while contributing to the broader "Healthy China" strategy.

The event was hosted by the Hainan Preventive Medicine Association, guided by Hainan Medical University, and organized by the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University.
