On June 8, the 2026 Red Cross and Red Crescent Asia-Pacific Volunteer Service Conference, themed “Volunteers United, Asia-Pacific in Action,” opened in Haikou.

The conference is jointly organized by the Red Cross Society of China, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the People’s Government of Hainan Province, and hosted by the Hainan Red Cross Society.

The four-day conference focuses on a range of topics, including the current state and future trends of volunteer service in the Asia-Pacific region, volunteer motivation and recognition mechanisms, intergenerational collaboration, and strengthening volunteer protection and well-being.

More than 100 participants are attending the event, including representatives of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies from across the Asia-Pacific region, young leaders, volunteers, humanitarian workers, and global partners.

Through high-level dialogues, interactive workshops, co-creation sessions, and practical exchanges, the conference provides an open and diverse platform for learning, collaboration, and experience sharing.

Held during the International Year of Volunteers, the conference’s convening in China is expected to further strengthen regional cooperation across the Asia-Pacific, promote more coordinated approaches to volunteer development, and reinforce the strategic role of volunteer service as a cornerstone of humanitarian action throughout the region.
