The 6th Hainan International Health Industry Expo was held at Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center on the morning of November 18^th, 2022.

Hosted by the Hainan Provincial Health Commission and other agencies, the Expo was guided by the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party  (CPWDP) and the Hainan Provincial People’s Government. Co-hosted by the Central Committee of CPWDP, China Association of Rehabilitation Technology Transformation & Promotion (CARTTP) and other agencies, the first main forum of the Expo, the 6th China International Healthcare Industry Forum 2022 and the Global Conference on ‘One Health’, was presented by He Wei, Vice-Chairperson of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Executive Vice-Chairman of the Central Committee of CPWDP,

The main forum was also attended by leaders and guests including Wang Lu, Vice-Chairman of the Central Committee of CPWDP and Vice Governor of Hainan Province. During the forum, several heavyweight guests devoting themselves to the development of global healthcare industry gave their keynote speeches about the development of China’s healthcare industry in the post-pandemic era, shared their experiences, discussed issues in the industry and introduced related resources.

Co-hosted by CARTTP, the China Institute of Communications (CIC), the Hainan Provincial Health Commission, and China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), the second main forum —China Digital Therapeutics Development Forum 2022 — was held in Haikou Shangri-La Hotel on the afternoon of November 18th. The forum was chaired by Ji Minhua, Assistant Secretary-General of CARTTP.

Additionally, the forum was presented by Zhang Huawei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Hainan Provincial People's Government, Song Guodong, Head of CARTTP, and Song Ling’en, Secretary of the CPC Committee and Vice President of CAICT.

Zhang Yuhui, Member of the CPC Committee and Deputy Director of the Hainan Provincial Health Commission, categorized the policies issued by the provincial government on promoting the development of its digital therapeutics industry through 5 main perspectives: the reasons for the policies, what advantages Hainan has, how Hainan will carry the policies out, what progress has been made, and related targets.

During the forum, a signing ceremony was held to mark the strategic cooperation between CARTTP and the Hainan Provincial Health Commission. Both sides will promote comprehensive and substantial cooperation on publicity, international communication, the building of clinical research demonstration centers, innovation; discipline construction, the construction of industrial hubs and clusters, the exploration of various payment models, and well-regulated development. By doing so, both sides will make a joint effort to establish a service platform which contributes to attracting more digital therapeutics enterprises to Hainan.

Li Lanjuan, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences of Zhejiang University delivered a speech entitled “The Development and Prospects of Digital Technologies in the Area of Healthcare” on the functions of digital therapeutics, as well as its value, significance, applications, and future in the industry.

Wang Gang, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of Hainan Medical Products Administration, interpreted the policies on digital therapeutics evaluation and approval in details.

During the forum, CARTTP also worked with EqualOcean to publish A White Paper on China’s Digital Therapeutics Industry 2022: A Research Report on Local Industrial Development. Additionally, under the guidance of CARTTP, HealthInsight, Health Communication Institution of Fudan University and Huatai Securities jointly produced The Report on Resident Healthcare Consumption Index for the third quarter of 2022. The report was released by the Academy of Digital China, which is affiliated with the State Information Center.

In relation to discussions between China and Finland about digital therapeutics, Marko Tiesmäki, Commercial Counselor of the Finnish Embassy in China and Head of Business Finland in Greater China, addressed the forum, and four digital therapeutics companies from Finland shared their experiences. After that, the round-table talk between China and Finland about cooperation on the digital therapeutics industry was chaired by Li Jiaxuan, Head of Healthcare Industry Division of Business Finland in China, and attended by Ding Peng, Vice General Manager of Hainan Resort Software Community; Zhang Yuming, General Manager of Digital Health Division of Shanghai Industrial Innovation Center affiliated to CAICT; Xia Wenrong, Creative Director of the Digitization Division of Sanofi in China; and Wang Zhi, Executive General Manager of Marketing Center of Osmunda.

In the second half of the forum, round-table talks were respectively chaired by Gao Ang, President of EqualOcean Comprehensive Health, and Bi Yuanfeng, Co-founder and COO of VBDATA.CN. Many delegates from various companies carried out a discussion concerning exploration and practice for the clinical applications of digital therapeutics and related commercialization. Participants included Li Wei, Director of Laws and Regulations Division of Tigermed-Jyton; Lu Yibing, Chairman of Teyijk; Hong Lei, COO of CHIC Health; Kang Cheng, CEO of Xuzhishi; Li Qiang, CTO of Guyitang; Zhu Yuhan, CEO of Smart Therapy Division of Fangxin Technology; Zhou Yan, Vice President of Chunyu; and Wang Boyang, founder and CEO of Semacare.

The forum was held with the aim of establishing a joint efforts between leading companies in related industries to enhance China’s digital therapeutics industry in the era of digital medicine in the areas of standard formulation, talent training, technology research and development, commercial innovation, registration and declaration. CARTTP has inked strategic deals with CIC, CAICT, Taiping Capital and the Hainan Provincial Health Commission, so as to create an industrial ecosphere of advanced  innovative medical technologies as represented by digital therapeutics. On the basis of more multilateral cooperation in the future, CARTTP will ramp up the digital therapeutics industry in Hainan, improve healthcare services for the Chinese people, and write a new chapter in building a health community with a shared future for mankind.
