According to Haikou Customs, since the implementation of  “Zero Tariff” pharmaceutical and medical device import  policy came into effect in the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone on December 25, 2024, a total of 10 hospitals (including Hainan Boao Super Hospita and Ruijin-Hainan Hospital Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine) have brought CNY 60.239 million in relevant products such as cochlear implants and their accessories and drugs like Sakeyi (isatuximab) into Hainan for a  tax savings of CNY 8.187 million.

“The “zero tariff” import policy enables the import of pharmaceuticals and medical devices that have been approved abroad but are not yet approved in China, while reducing the operating costs of hospitals and the medical expenses of patients. This has enhanced the core competitiveness and attractiveness of the “Lecheng Pilot Zone.” said Feng Jialong (a representative of the Hainan Boao Super Hospital).
