From May 27 to 29, the Hainan Provincial Health System News and Publicity Backbone Training Program was held in Haikou. Zhu Ju, Second-Level Inspector of the Hainan Provincial Health Commission, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a mobilization speech. More than 50 publicity and communications professionals from municipal and county health commissions across the province, provincial-level medical institutions, and commission-affiliated units participated in the training.

The meeting pointed out that organizing journalism and publicity training is not only a concrete action to thoroughly study and implement the series of important speeches by General Secretary Xi Jinping on publicity, ideological work, and public opinion guidance, but also an initiative to implement the requirements of national and provincial publicity and cultural work conferences. The year 2026 marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan period and is a critical year for high-quality development of the health sector. Strengthening publicity work this year is of great significance for building industry consensus, promoting professional spirit, improving public health literacy, and safeguarding ideological security.

The meeting emphasized the need to fully implement the responsibility system for ideological work, strengthen accountability, secure all communication platforms, standardize information release, and enhance public opinion guidance and emergency response capacity, so as to build a strong ideological security barrier. It also stressed the importance of strengthening publicity teams by selecting personnel with strong ideas, writing ability, and professional understanding to ensure that publicity work is properly managed and effectively executed. Efforts should be made to develop exemplary models, highlight role models, and establish benchmarks of spirit, discovering a group of “health guardians” who are dedicated to serving the people and creating a number of warm, people-centered service brands. Continuous efforts should also be made to strengthen hospital culture construction by deeply exploring historical heritage, values, and humanistic care within hospitals, refining distinctive cultural identities, and building hospital brands that are warm, reputable, and culturally rich, thereby enhancing core competitiveness through cultural soft power.

The training program was organized by the Hainan Provincial Health Commission and undertaken by the Provincial Health Education and Promotion Center. Experts and leaders from Communication University of China, the Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department, the Provincial Party School, Haikou Media Center, Health News, and Legal Daily were invited to deliver lectures. The training focused on Xi Jinping Thought on Culture and the new requirements for publicity and ideological work in the health sector in the new era. Topics included ideological work in health institutions, media literacy development, news writing, governmental photography, hospital culture building, and health communication. Participants also engaged in on-site Q&A and discussions focusing on practical work and public opinion response.
